The 2025 Falkland Islands Hockey Association Inline and Dek Hockey Awards, back in November 2025, brought the hockey community together to recognise the standout players of the season. The evening celebrated those who demonstrated outstanding ability, commitment, leadership and true sportsmanship on the hall throughout the year.
The Rookies league delivered one of the most exciting finishes of the season, with the championship decided in the final game, a testament to how closely contested the division was. In the Senior league, the Reapers faced a challenging regular season, but after a mid-season reshuffle of players they made a remarkable comeback to win all four games in the Russel Smith Memorial tournament and claim victory.
This year also marked the launch of our first dedicated Girls’ and Women’s leagues. Participation was strong and the enthusiasm across both divisions was fantastic. Building on this momentum, we’re excited to continue developing opportunities for female players and aim to expand the programme with regular weekly games to further grow the sport for women and girls.
Thanks to the generous support of sponsors : Argos Group Limited, Beauchene Fishing Company Ltd, Byron Marine , Chandlery & Chandlery Express, Consolidated Fisheries Limited, Energise, Falkland Beerworks, Fortuna, GK Services, International Tours and Travel, MAAZ Tours and Travel, Martech, National Sports Council Falkland Islands, Penguin Travel, Polar Seafish, SAAS, Shorty’s Building Services, Southern Cross Limited, Stephen Jaffray Memorial Fund, SURE and Tonedog Design, the hockey community continues to grow and thrive.
We extend our sincere thanks to FIDF for kindly providing the use of their hall and for operating the bar during the event, helping to make the evening such a success.
We look forward to 2026 and are especially excited to move into the new facility with a proper hockey rink. With such a talented pool of players, there’s no doubt that the future of hockey in the Falkland Islands is in good hands, and we can’t wait to see what the next season holds.
