Recap
The first match of the elite season saw knights take on dragons. Dragons won 8:6 but that doesn’t even begin to tell the whole story.
Due to last minute school commitments the Knights netminder, John McLeod couldn’t make the match. So outfield player Travis Jaffray stepped in to take his place…..wearing outfield kit. Dragons sensed their chance and gave Knights an onslaught but Travis saved shot after shot and had some excellent defensive back up from other Knights players.
The first goal of the match (and of the season) was from Lane McKay (Knights). But Dragons kept pushing and the first period ended at 7:3 to Dragons.
At half time Knights were able to bring on Dean Ellis (Bombers) as a substitute netminder so Travis could move outfield.
The second period was a little quieter but both teams showed great teamwork, with the Knights keeping their heads up and eroding the Dragons lead. Threre wasa good balance of attack and defence and some awesome shooting from both sides. Ultimately despite keeping their heads and working hard the Knights couldn’t quite make up the difference with it finishing up 8-6 to Dragons.
A massive well done to all players great sporting attitude shown by all- this season is shaping up to be a good one.
